Foothill Community Contra Dance Workshop with caller Mielle
Join us for a beginner-friendly dance workshop with live music from the Foothill Community Dance Band, no experience or partners needed!
Contra Dance is an Americana folk partner dance; a lively blend of English country dancing, square dancing and swing dancing, where all the moves are taught & “called” during most of the dance.

Foothill Community Contra Dance occurs most 3rd Saturdays at the Elks Lodge Historic Ballroom in Grass Valley, always with live music and gender-neutral calling. No experience or partner needed!
Calling the dance will be Mielle Chenier-Cowen Rose, CDNC’s “house” caller. Mielle’s welcoming, effervescent style encourages dancers to relax and enjoy themselves. She is convinced that contra dancing can heal the rifts in our society, and strives to share her love for contra by creating a joyful evening of connection and fun.
